I am Really Just a Tomboy

Clint, the oldest, had a best friend (Sean) who lived right across the street from us. Of course I would tag along and play with them. I found shooting basketballs, playing nintendo, and jumping on the tramp a lot more fun then playing dress ups. I was a tomboy. . .

To the horror of my two younger sisters. . . I would rather wear boy's basketball shorts and a t-shirt with a pony tail.

After some teasing, years, and growing self-consciousness I decided to let them become my fashion councilors.

Now I do like clothes. . . to a point. . . they couldn't teach me everything though. . . .

I still hate. . .
*Shopping for more than 30 min.
*Taking more than 30 min. to get ready (Seriously girls!! What are you doing for two hours!?)
*Talking or following fashion trends
*I have a hard time matching things. . . which is why I wear black and white a lot! (Also I will have to marry a guy who can tell me I'm matching or not. . . )
*spending more than $10 on a shirt. . . . I just cant do it

But. . . But. . . Teacher

I HATE running! I find no joy in my throat/lungs burning, side aching, legs shaking, want-to-pass-out-and-die feeling.

It is a shame though. . . . my best friend does it every night. And what do I do? I sit back at the apt. . . . probably eating.

Where does the hate come from?

One word:

SCHOOL!

Back in elementary school we had this program Presidential Fitness. I think it is all a big scam. . . just a way to convince us kids to get into shape. Every year we would have to run, stretch, do pull ups/sit ups/ push ups, shuttle run, and all other glorious forms of torture.
I always failed the stretching ones. . . . I am just not flexible.

But back to running.
I DREADED that yearly run.
I even thought about lying to my teacher so I wouldn't have to do it.

I finally graduated elementary school and headed off to middle school.

Things got worse. Much worse.
I could no longer do push ups or pull ups. I almost failed gym because of it.
Then every Friday we would have to run a mile! Every week!! UGH! And Mondays and Wednesdays we would have to run 1/4 of a mile.

The teacher even made us a deal.
If everyone could do a mile under 15 minutes we wouldn't have to run the next week.

Of course we all tried. . . . except these three girls.
Hate to say it but they were large and slow.
Every week the rest of us would finish and then we would shout words of encouragement.

They would then start to walk around the track. We started to plead with them to hurry. . .
their pace might have slowed.

So in the end we would run week after week.

It's Utah (Utah=hot) and I had gym outside around 1 PM
Yuck!

It was hot, I was hot and bothered, and my face wouldn't stop being red for another two hours. . . . the teasing started. Not to mention we did all of this running in front of the boys. . .

That is why I hate running!

Phones

I have a fear. . . . it really is a silly fear though.
I do not like talking on the phone.

I don't know why I hate it, but I do. It scares me to death. I would rather have a conversation with somebody in person. Well, I have decided that I really need to get over this.

My goal is to answer my phone (even if I don't know the number. . . which happens a lot) as much as I can for the next couple of weeks. We will see how it goes!

My Curly Hair

Once upon a time I went to go get my hair cut. I was like 12 years old. I sat down in the chair and some lady washed my hair (the best part!). Well after that I went into the other chair and she started to snip away.

In the middle she stopped cutting and said "You have the curliest hair I have ever seen!"

I had no idea what she was talking about. I didn't have curly hair. When it was wet.. . . sure it wasn't straight but it wasn't curly either. She saw my confused look and started to laugh. The lady turned to my mom and goes "Your daughter doesn't know she has curly hair!" My mother also gave her a weird look. My mom was on my side, we didn't know what the heck she was talking about.

Well a few years passed and one day I tried scrunching my hair. That is when I realized I did indeed have curly hair. How weird?! It wont curl on its own. . .

Somehow I seem to confuse people when my hair is curly. I still do not understand this.

During my senior year of high school I only did my hair straight. (it was the "fashion thing to do") One day I got up late and so I just decided to do my hair curly. I get to school and this girl in my class walks up to me and says "Hi, are you new here?"

I give her this evil look. New?! I was not new! I had been in this class since school started! I had even talked to her before!

I thought the confusion would end. . .

Then I did my hair curly one Sunday for my Singles Ward. Later a friend wanted to know why I hadn't been at church. . . . I had been sitting in front of him at sacrament.

I guess if I ever had to go into hiding or the Witness Protection Program I could stay in the same place and just do my hair curly everyday. . . .

Do I really look that different!?

And So It Begins. . .

Dad starting out
Clint, Amber, and I took out the fence. . . . HURRAY!
Grant suggested we rent a jack hammer. . . but we will get a good work out and save money.
Now I know why my dad had a lot of kids. . . free labor
Even Scott thought it was fun to help (no we didn't let him use the sledge hammer)

We made some good progress this first week. Now we have to pick out a swimming pool and finish tearing out the fence and patio.

Beautiful Sisters

I really wanted to get some pictures done of all the four girls. After grumbling they all got ready and we headed out. (I think they ended up having lots of fun). At first we really didn't know how to pose. . . . then once we got going we just couldn't stop!
I am not as photogenic as my sisters. . . :( sigh. . . . but I try

I loved taking pictures of Miriam, she just knew how to pose!

I don't know which one I like better. . . . color or black and white

Oh Amber. . . . what a sweetheart!
I think this one is my favorite of Amanda! So gorgeous!
Well this one tied for my favorite of her. . . but then again she had a lot of good pictures
I don't know how this happened but my camera did this. Turned out pretty cool though
Me and my little bud
This is Miriam
The three oldest
Amber kind of got tired and decided to go chill. . . .haha! What a babe!
My beautiful sisters! I loved taking pictures of them!
Friends. . . . just chatting
My favorite of them together

Yuck!
Me and Amber
Amber being silly. . . me not knowing she was being silly

I Hate Waiting

I saw this cool picture of the clock on somebody's blog. Right now this is how time feels to me. . . it goes on forever! And why is this going by so slow? Because I'm not a patient person.
  • I hate waiting for the bus
  • I hate waiting for the mail every week
  • I hate waiting for my birthday so I can go on a mission
  • I hate waiting for a certain somebody to come home from his mission
But all this waiting has made me realized something. I need to learn to be patient. I think being at college has made me less patient. I'll have to work on that

I Am a Clutz

There is one fact about me that people are always shocked to hear. I am a terrible clutz! I have gotten to the point that if I don't have at least one embarrassing thing happen to me a day. . . I start to get worried. For example

1. In high school I was walking across the parking lot and ran into a tree.
2. I was in the kitchen talking to Shantel when I knocked the clock off the wall. . . breaking it
3. In high school I would trip over nothing. . . sometimes that still happens
4. I always run into door knobs. I will be walking through an open door and hit my arm on the knob
5. I cut myself on a thumb tack. . . but not the sharp part.
6. I was making Kool-Aid and ended up in the E.R. getting stitches
7. I drop a lot of stuff!
8. I was closing the sliding door of a van when I slipped on the ice and landed on my back.
9. I went up in front of the class to collect a paper and turned around and walked into a desk
10. I was on the bus and it was so crowded so I was standing up. The bus driver slammed on the brakes and I almost fell into some random guys lap.

Yet somehow despite being a clutz I managed to survive
1. never breaking a bone
2. never falling down the stairs at school

I am very proud of these two facts .

Love, Hate

CHANGE! It is a part of life and we all have to experience it. I hate not being in control of things. However, I love the change that I can control. Like . . .
*Deciding to change my hair (cut or color)
*Getting organized
*Painting my nails
Although these are some pretty silly things that I can change there is one that is a little crazy. When I start to have trouble sleeping I know that I have to rearrange my room. I know its weird but it works. This last two weeks I could not fall asleep even if I was exhausted. I then started planning my new room. Well I moved it and now I can fall asleep in seconds. But the whole reason I'm saying this is because when I got on my blog I JUST HAD TO change my background. Ugh I know it is annoying (and why it is different every month or so) but I love change!

Zoo!

There was nobody at the zoo! Best part. . . it was free!!

Who doesn't want to kiss a big hairy monkey!?

Just us being weird
All the kids that went to the zoo that day.

Locked Door

I locked my bedroom door for the first time over Christmas break. When I got to my room I couldn't unlock the door. Turns out the office gave me the wrong key. The office was closed so I couldn't ask them to open my room. I really had to get into my room so I did what my movie watching skills told me to do. . . Kick the door down. (The voice in my head said it really wasn't important to get into my room. And i'm not violent I promise) Well I kicked (not very hard either) and there wasn't a lot of damage. Nothing a screwdriver and nail gun wont fix. I should probably not do that again. But . . . If I can get into a locked room that easily . . . I should keep a bat by my bed.

Late Birthday

Shaun from my ward got me a late birthday present. Tickets to New Moon! (I'm not an obsessed freaky fan but I thought that the books were pretty good). So Shaun cooked me grilled asparagus and some yummy fancy chicken with french bread. After dinner Shantel, Kleresa, Amber, Amanda, Shaun, and I headed to New Moon!! It was a wonderful late birthday present!! I loved the movie and had some great pictures. . . unfortunately I lost my camera :(
